The University of Santo Tomas Hospital Eye Institute has successfully conducted its 36th postgraduate course entitled “#OOTD: Orbit and Oculoplasty: Therapeutics and Diagnostics” held last September 16, 2017 at Novotel Manila, Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City. The contemporary theme is the brainchild of the program director, Dr. Manuel O. Palmero and the current Philippine Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PSOPRS) president, Dr. Roseny Mae Singson. It has accredited 5.5 CPD units by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). The postgraduate course focused onf the different orbital tumors, diagnosis and management, that were delivered by distinguished members of the PSOPRS and other ophthalmology experts. The postgraduate course was divided into three sessions. The first session was moderated by Dr. Maria Perla Duran and it focused on imaging of orbital diseases, retinoblastoma and vascular tumors. The first lecture of the course was given by Dr. Paulita Astudillo, pediatric ophthalmologist with the topic on retinoblastoma. Dr. Mary Rose Pe-Yan delivered the second lecture on proptosis and imaging and the last lecture was given by Dr. Yvette Santiago on the current treatment options for vascular tumors. The second session was moderated by a USTH graduate, Dr. Jacqueline Mupas-Uy. Dr. Charmaine Ang gave the first lecture on rhabdomyosarcoma followed by discussion on the management on retinoblastoma and rhabdomyosarcoma by a pediatric oncologist, Dr. Patricia Alcasabas. The chairman of USTH Eye Institute, Dr. Reynaldo Javate, delivered the lecture on endoscopic orbital surgery. The last lecture for the second session was presented by Dr. Felice Ranche on orbital tumor registry with a call on organizing a tumor registry for the different orbital tumors on the different hospitals. The third and last session was moderated by Dr. Armida Suller. The first presenter is the postgraduate course director, Dr. Manuel Palmero who shared his experience on radiotherapy for eyelid squamous cell carcinoma. The second lecturer is a USTH graduate Dr. Roseny Mae Singson. She gave lecture on stereotactic imaging and the advances for orbital surgery. The last lecture was given by a USTH graduate, Dr. Jacqueline Mupas-Uy on IgG4-related diseases. It was well attended by ophthalmology residents and consultants from different institutions as well as members of PSOPRS and Thomasian Alumni Ophthalmologic Society (TAOS). It provided an interactive avenue for learning. The course was concluded by a closing remarks given by Dr. Roseny Mae Singson.
