Philippine Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Virtual Sessions

First lecture from the virtual session was from Dr. Roland Joseph Tan which discussed about Retrobulbar Hemorrhage, its pathophysiology, causes, and enumerating the steps in performing canthotomy and cantholysis.

Coming in for the second lecture was an impressive topic from Dr. Charisse Ann Tanlapco who talked about animal bite injuries that caused lacerations to eyelid structures and into the lacrimal system. She also briefly discussed quick facts on rabies and treatment of periocular animal bites.

Lastly but not the least, our guest speaker, Dr.Hakan Demicri, shared his valuable insights on the Navigation System in removing the small orbital foreign bodies that are posteriorly located. It was also explained comprehensively during his lecture that Image-guided navigation system has its advantages of determining accurate and real time position of orbital foreign bodies. He also mentioned that there is an increased success rate of removing small orbital foreign bodies and decreased complication rates to surrounding structures using this navigation system.
