2019 Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology Business Meeting
The Philippine Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery was privileged to have as a keynote speaker for this year’s annual business meeting, Dr. Don Kikkawa. Joined by his former fellows, friends, and colleagues, we welcomed him with a dinner at the Brasserie, Conrad hotel last December 5, 2019.
Day 1 was filled with innovative lectures by Dr. Don Kikkawa, “Management of Recalcitrant Thyroid Eye Disease”, “Update on Orbital Vascular Anomalies”, “Perfecting Your Skills with the Aesthetic Patient”, “Challenging Cases in Pediatric Oculoplastic Surgery” and “The Promise of Stem Cells in Oculoplastic Surgery”.
Dr. Mariel Angelou Parulan discussed "A Practical Classification of Orbital and Orbitofacial Fractures". A former fellow of Dr. Kikkawa, Dr. Jonathan Del Prado gave a lecture on “ Therapeutic Modalities for Idiopathic Orbital Inflammatory Disease”. The morning session was capped off with a lecture from Dr. Reynaldo Javate, "Orbital Decompression Using Stereotactic Navigation”.
The afternoon session was graced by a lecture on the “Dos and Donts in Blepharoplasty” given by Dr. Fatima Regala. And “Pearls in Ptosis Surgery” was talked about by our immediate past president, Dr. Mae Singson.
