The society gathered for a Fellows’ Paper Presentation meeting last July 11, 2024. The session featured two excellent research papers conducted by two of our members, Dr. Jake Sebastian and Dr. Ulysses Yap.
Dr. Sebastian completed his fellowship training in Orbit and Oculoplastic Surgery at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He discussed the outcomes of his paper on Euthyroid Graves’ Orbitopathy in the Chinese population. It emphasized that thyroid eye disease can occur even among euthyroid patients, and that a unilateral asymmetric involvement with motility issues are observed in these groups.

Dr. Yap pursued his Orbit and Oculoplastic Surgery fellowship at Asan Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea. He presented his manuscript on the Radiologic Features of Cavernous Venous Malformation (CVM) versus Orbital Schwannoma. It was a comprehensive presentation that compared the clinical and radiographic characteristics of CVM and orbital schwannoma, as well as the outcomes following complete versus subtotal resection and recurrence.

Following their presentations, both Dr. Sebastian and Dr. Yap have completed the Fellowship requirement of the society. These were outstanding papers on the subjects and the discussions provided relevant updates on their management.
