Our very own Dr. Sandra Worak-Tan was one of the distinguished guest speakers, and the only ophthalmologist/oculoplastic/orbit specialist in the 7th Craniomaxillofacial Aesthetic Surgery (CMFAS VII) Masterclass Manila: Diverse Intricacies. This was a 3-day online event held on September 23-25, 2021 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm, which was brought to us by the East Avenue Medical Center Department of Otorhinolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery in cooperation with the Philippine Society of Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery.
On Day 2 (September 24,2021) of the Masterclass, Dr. Worak-Tan discussed the Orbital Complications of Midface. Her talk spanned the subtopics of orbital floor and naso-orbito-ethmoidal (NOE) fractures, their indications for surgery, timing of repair, surgical approach, and pearls and pitfalls in surgical repair; lacrimal apparatus evaluation; traumatic ptosis, as well as indication and timing of repair. As always, Dr. Worak-Tan managed to make the topics seem easy despite the breadth and nuances involved in the fields she discussed.
The rest of the day included topics on the approach and management of complicated NOE fractures and case discussion by Dr. Ryan Neil Adan and Dr. Enrico Micael G. Donato, respectively. Dr. Eduardo C. Yap shared Complications in Rhinoplasty: Experience Earned from Lessons Learned. Day 2 of the webinar was capped off with questions posted by the audience that were well-answered by our speakers.
