The Philippine Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PSOPRS) hosted a successful inaugural fundraising golf tournament on October 10, 2024. Held at the scenic Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo, this brought together members, supporters, and golf enthusiasts for a day of camaraderie and charity. This landmark event aimed to raise funds to support medical and surgical missions of the society across the country.
Granted with a fine day of clear skies and the lush fairways, PSOPRS President, Dr. Yvette Santiago-Gatmaitan, delivered an outstanding ceremonial opening tee shot and over 100 participants took to the greens.
Even non-golfers were welcomed, and all the guests enjoyed a lively program featuring raffle prizes and awards. This landmark activity was led by Dr. Mariel Angelou Parulan, PSOPRS Director of Administrative Activities, together with the organizing committee with Dr. Yvette Marie Santiago, Dr. Mark Anthony Imperial (Vice President), Dr. Andrei Angbue-Te (Director, Operational Activities), Dr. Honeylen Teo (Secretary), Dr. Christine Santos (Treasurer), Dr. Lionel Francisco, Dr. Charmaine Ang, Dr. Beverly Rosas, Dr. Perla Duran, Dr. Jo Anne Hernandez-Tan, Dr. Alexander Gungab, and Dr. Marlo Cancio. The society expressed immense gratitude to the players, sponsors, and supporters.
The fundraiser exceeded expectations, both in turnout and donations, and highlighted PSOPRS’ commitment to fostering stronger connections among the members and advocating access to specialized eye care in underserved areas in the Philippines through the surgical missions.
