For the first time since the pandemic, our society gathered once again face-to-face for our opening roundtable discussion for 2025. Since the RTD tradition began, meetings have been held in conference rooms and events places that accommodated the large number of resident trainees and PSOPRS members. The hybrid meeting on March 15 was held at the Makati Medical Center Auditorium and broadcast to attendees across the country, maximizing the potential of online conferencing.
Presenting institutions were Makati Medical Center (MMC) and the Rizal Medical Center – The Medical City (RMC-TMC) Orbit and Oculoplastics Fellowship Consortium. Our PSOPRS President Dr. Mark Anthony Imperial opened the session with his welcome remarks followed by a special lecture sponsored by AbbVie Philippines and delivered by Dr. Christine Santos, PSOPRS Vice-President.
Dr. Patricia Regio-de Dios-Garcia, ophthalmology resident from MMC, presented a case on ‘Image-Guided Navigation in Lateral Orbitotomy for a Posterior Orbital Neoplasm’. Together with adviser Dr. Donna Santiago and case reactor Dr. Lorenzo Maria Cancio, the discussions highlighted the advantages of using navigation technology in challenging orbital surgery.
The second case entitled ‘Nose-y Neighbors: A Case of Ethmoid Sinus Tumor with Orbital and Frontal Sinus Extension’ was delivered by the RMC-TMC Orbit and Oculoplastics Fellow, Dr. Camille Sison. The adviser for the case was Dr. Elaine Marie Yatco-Omaña. Dr. Noel Palmero, PSOPRS Auditor, shared thoughtful insights as reactor for the case.
At the conclusion of the RTD, the first general membership meeting of PSOPRS commenced, with Dr. Mark Imperial and the rest of the executive committee delivering respective updates for the year ahead.
