The prestigious Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress in conjunction with the 49th Indonesion Ophthalmologists Association annual meeting was held in Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Indonesia last February 22 – 25, 2024. With the theme Beyond All Limits, the scientific program focuses on the latest scientific developments in the ophthalmology. Faculty and attendees from across the globe gathered, with many PSOPRS members presenting lectures and moderating scientific sessions.

Dr. Mary Rose Pe-Yan, Vice-President of the Asia-Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (APSOPRS) delivered a talk at the Orbit and Oculoplastic APSOPRS Symposium on Clinical Features of Eyelid and Orbital Diseases in Asian Population: Bridging the Gap Between Asian and Western Patients. She gave lectures on ‘Orbital Inflammatory Disease’ and ‘The Impact of Laissez Faire Technique on the Quality of Life of Patients After Orbital Exenteration’. Dr. Reynaldo Javate, first APSOPRS president, delivered a lecture on ‘Controversies in Congenital Ptosis Repair’.

Dr. Raoul Paolo Henson, past-president of APSOPRS, presented a lecture on ‘Endoscopes in Lacrimal Surgery’.

Dr. Yvette Santiago-Gatmaitan, PSOPRS President, lectured on the topic ‘Upper lid Blepharoplasty for Aesthetic Indication’.

Dr. Roseny Mae Singson, was invited to discuss on ‘Community Approaches for Reducing Eye Disease Burden in the Philippines’ at the Global Eye Health and Epidemiology symposium.

Dr. Honeylen Teo gave a talk on ‘Age-specific and Sex-specific Volume of the Orbit and Globe in the Healthy Pediatric Population: A Cross-Sectional Study’.

Dr. Alexander Gerard Nino Gungab received an outstanding First Prize in the Young Ophthalmologist Best Video contest. He also presented a lecture on ‘Pearls and Paradigms for Orbit, Oculofacial and Lacrimal Surgery Videography’.
